About CriminalAppeal
AI-powered criminal appeal research and case management for Oklahoma attorneys and pro se litigants.
Our Mission
Oklahoma incarcerates more people per capita than nearly every other state in the nation. Many of those individuals have legitimate grounds for appeal but lack access to the legal research tools and expertise needed to pursue them. CriminalAppeal.app exists to close that gap.
We serve two communities: criminal defense attorneys who need efficient, Oklahoma-specific research tools for appellate practice, and pro se litigants—people representing themselves—who deserve guided access to the same case law, procedural rules, and analytical frameworks that attorneys use. The appellate process should not be a barrier to justice.
Technology
Readiness Checklist
Before diving into research, our Readiness Checklist evaluates the viability of your appeal. It walks through procedural requirements, filing deadlines, preserved issues, and potential grounds for relief—helping you identify strengths and weaknesses before investing significant time in brief preparation.
OCCA Precedent Analysis
Our AI research engine is trained specifically on Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals opinions—both published and unpublished. It uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to find relevant precedent, verify that cited cases actually exist and say what they are claimed to say, and generate analysis with proper Bluebook citations. The system never fabricates case references.
Brief Drafting with Citation Verification
CriminalAppeal.app integrates CiteRight's Triple-Verify Framework directly into the brief drafting workflow. As you build your appellate brief, every citation is validated in real time against authoritative databases. The platform formats citations to Bluebook standards and flags any authorities that have been overruled, distinguished, or questioned.
Appeal Timeline Tracking
Criminal appeals have strict procedural deadlines. Missing a filing date can waive your right to appeal entirely. Our timeline tracker monitors every critical deadline—from notice of appeal to reply briefs—and provides advance warnings so nothing falls through the cracks.
Data Sources
CriminalAppeal.app draws from multiple authoritative legal databases to power research and citation verification:
- OCCA (Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals) — Published and unpublished opinions from Oklahoma's court of last resort for criminal cases, including full-text opinions and procedural orders
- OSCN (Oklahoma State Courts Network) — Real-time access to Oklahoma court dockets, case filings, and district court records across all 77 counties
- CourtListener — Free Law Project's database of federal court opinions, providing cross-jurisdictional research for federal constitutional claims and habeas corpus petitions
- Oklahoma Statutes — Title 21 (Crimes and Punishments), Title 22 (Criminal Procedure), and related statutory provisions with current amendments
- ODOC (Oklahoma Department of Corrections) — Offender lookup data for case verification, sentence calculation, and institutional records

Built by ParsProServices
CriminalAppeal.app is developed by ParsProServices, a legal technology company building accessible tools for the justice system. We believe that the quality of legal representation should not depend on the size of a firm's budget or a litigant's ability to afford commercial research platforms.
ParsProServices builds three complementary platforms that share a common AI and data infrastructure:
- CriminalAppeal — Criminal appeal research and case management (this platform)
- CiteRight— Professional citation validation with Triple-Verify Framework and citation graph analysis
- Commutation — Guided Oklahoma commutation application preparation with PDF generation
